Roya,
I started learning German several years ago, and my advice to really being able to speak well in German is to do that- just start speaking it! Of course, the best way to learn to speak is to be speaking with someone who is fluent – and speaking daily. You will start off speaking veryyyy slowly, translating each word in your head, and thinking of articles and trennbar verbs, but over several months, things will just become easier and easier. It definitely takes time. If you don’t have someone to speak with, I think the next best thing is to force yourself to think in German throughout the day – talk to yourself, about everything – cooking, putting on socks & shoes, just everything you do every day.
I’m trying to get back into it as well, and Annik’s podcast has been sooo wonderful to help me with this – but now I need to start practice speaking again, too!
Hi Roya, learning languages takes time, so be patient and try to immerse yourself in the language. I am not a teacher, so I cannot give you any advice on how to advance quicker… Sorry!
Hello Annik
Thank you very much for this useful site. It is about 18 months that I am learning Deutsch. I am still in level A2 and I am not able to talk in Deutsch. I am going to an Institute in Iran and they teach us Schritte Books. I have finisched Schritte 4. Please tell me why I can not talk in Deutsch. What should I do?
Thanks alot,
